Core i3-2100 gaming??
That's strange. I attempted to run vanilla on an i3-5010U about three years ago (version 1.5), and it wasn't even limited by the integrated GPU. It just kept skipping redstone ticks, causing the game to crash like running an MMO over a high-latency network with lots of packet loss, even on superflat worlds.
I began considering things more carefully and noticed I was using an older version that hadn’t been updated—probably before Microsoft acquired it and the new design came in. For the original poster, it seems like even the main character might be gone...
Never changed? Don't mention it's Minecraft Alpha/Beta/Classic...
This post offers helpful tips for the 3470-3570. If your board supports overclocking, includes a good cooler, and you intend to enable it and actually run it at higher speeds, go ahead. Otherwise, stick with normal or S versions. I tried this on an i3-3220 and it improved performance by about 50-100% in most cases, preventing freezes even when multiple windows are open in Chrome.
Back in 2012 I assembled a Celeron G540 system. It performed adequately for streaming videos and YouTube content. Later, I upgraded to an i3-2105 with an HD6670 graphics card, which allowed me to play some games, though not heavily. It's definitely a solid CPU, but it had certain constraints.
After that, I moved to an i5-3570, which significantly improved its performance. You might consider following that path. It supports DDR3 MEM for all CPUs.
By the way, I'm running a Ryzen 5-2600 build while keeping my i5 in storage. It's too valuable to part with right now. I'm not looking to lose money.
I know this is an old af topic but speaking about Minecraft here, i have an I3-2100 processor and can run Minecraft at 200-300 fps with no lag at all, and can easily run the game with heavy shaders too... (MC 1.14)
