Cooling FX8350 suitable for boosting performance
Cooling FX8350 suitable for boosting performance
I'm having issues with my 8350 running too hot at 4.2, and going higher like 4.3 causes excessive heat. I'm using the included stock fan but need help upgrading to 4.5 without risking damage. Any cost-effective cooling solutions would be appreciated.

overclocking on the standard cooler isn't advised as temperatures will be too high. An EVO 212 would be better, but a top-tier cooler is ideal for hitting 4.5 ghz.
If you're aiming for that speed, what do you suggest?
An EVO 212 or higher would work well.

Don't go overclocking the standard cooler; temperatures will drop significantly. Using something like Evo 212 would be better, though a top-tier cooler is ideal for hitting 4.5 ghz.

you won't progress very far on an evo sadly fx processors can quickly overwhelm even the best coolers during overclocking.
i've used an FX 8350 and FX 9590, experimenting with cooling solutions, but i couldn't recommend anything less than an H-100I or Kraken for proper cooling. however, i managed to reach 5ghz on both using a liquid cooler, though air cooling only allowed me to hit around 4.3-4.4ghz due to heat issues.
Generally, the 212EVO or H7 Cryorig can achieve 4.4 or 4.5 with most 8350/70 models. I currently own a 240 Aquachanger from Lepa on my 8370, and I've tested a 120 Seidon on it, which performed well.
