1--I think so
2--every card has its own overclocking style
3--in my view, for what you're investing in the Corsair—nzxt—you could almost get a swiftech h240-x and a full GPU block to handle it properly—especially with the extra $150 you have
4--with that nzxt cooler, only the GPU die is watercooled; the VRMs are cooled by the fan

i think so
every card overclocks differently
in my view for what you're spending on corsair—nzxt—noctua you could almost get a swiftech h240-x and a full gpu block and do the job properly—especially with the extra $150 you have
using just the nzxt cooler only the gpu die is watercooled the vrms etc are only cooled with the fan
some people suggest getting a vrm heatsink to aid cooling, any advice?

I'm not sure about that—previously I never tried that method. My setup is fully protected with a full cover waterblock. The only chance I'd think about doing it this way would be if I already owned a Corsair H110, and even then I'd likely sell the Corsair and switch to the other option.

i'm not sure about that—previously i never tried that method, mine is fully covered with a complete waterblock. i'd only think about it if i already owned the corsair h110, and even then i'd likely sell it to go the opposite way. do you have any suggestions for full cover waterblocks? i'm just starting out with water cooling and this is my second build... but i really missed a chance to get the 50 r9 290 without a cooler.

Use ek configurator to check for a complete cover block, then it’s likely you won’t find it elsewhere

i located a complete cover water block for the r9 290.
had to confirm it matches the specific model since some are not reference pcbs

I also located a full cover water block for the R9 290. It’s important to confirm it matches the exact model, as some are non-reference PCBs. The description mentions a reference PCB, but it says you only need the backplate if you decide otherwise. It also states that fittings are required unless you opt for a GPU waterblock. I’m curious about the necessary components and whether any all-in-one kits are available. An introductory video would be really helpful too.
