I am replacing and installing a Gigabyte B360 HD3 (LGA1151/Intel/B360/ATX/USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type A/DDR4/Motherboard with Intel i5-8400 processor).
My Cooler Master V-8 cooler is compatible with an LGA 1156 i5-750 CPU and is eight years old.
The mounting holes appear suitable; should I attempt to use it for the i5-8400?

They should maintain the identical hole spacing. I would go for it. It should operate more quietly and require less power than the standard Intel fan.

Yes, you can use it too—they should maintain the same hole spacing. I’d go for it. It should be quieter and require less power than the standard Intel fan. Thanks a lot; really appreciate it.

The mentioned cooler is now irrelevant. My current design is 3/4" narrower and won't require cutting a hole in the case.
