This was due to limited drivers, missing CPU instruction sets, or a tightly controlled boot process. Despite that, some users managed to install Linux on a PS3, while the PS4 offers significantly stricter restrictions.

There are methods to run Linux on a PS3 using official firmware, and on a PS4 via jailbreaking by taking advantage of a weak firmware. However, you won't be able to turn it into a traditional PC.

I often thought about why better hardware could be found at the same cost, especially with improved cooling. Linux seems more compact and efficient, which makes me think it would add value to an HTPC built from an old console. Windows, on the other hand, feels unreliable and inconsistent.

Sure thing! It’d be awesome to run Xbox games directly on an Xbox console while also handling PC tasks. That would create a really unique and powerful gaming setup.
