Converter PCIe x1 to Mini PCIe adapter
Converter PCIe x1 to Mini PCIe adapter
I’m mainly curious about this because I’d rather avoid buying a PCI debug card from eBay, which tends to be quite costly. It’s essentially a budget-friendly option to get a PCIe postcard without the hassle of importing from eBay—around $16 total, though I’ll need to solder LEDs onto the headers. Since this is just PCIe to Mini PCI and not PCI to PCI (which newer boards usually don’t support), I think it should work. I’m wondering if PCIe X1 to Mini PCI is feasible. I’m also curious about using my existing PCI debug card with a PCIe → PCI adapter; I know these adapters rarely function, but maybe I’m mistaken.
It seems the setup should function because it simply sends traces from the PCI-e slot to the miniPCIe connector. The issue might hinge on whether the wireless board forwards SMBus traffic to the miniPCIe port—likely not necessary since wireless cards don’t prioritize SMBus. You have 3.3V in the PCI-e x1 lane, but the adapter lacks a 1.5V regulator, which is probably fine as it’s not actively used.
I don't plan to use this as a wifi card since there are already dedicated PCIe WiFi cards available (which I wouldn't want to get just because this PCI Wi-Fi CSRD was a bad idea, ngl). All I need is something that lets me view postcodes so I’m not wasting time overclocking or hoping it works. I have no regrets about buying this PCI debug card—it’s really useful for OC and troubleshooting. Edit: found a more affordable and legit-looking alternative.
