Does having internet over coax mean your modem manages the phone line? You use an eMTA to extract the phone service from the cable. I’m not sure how to set it up on my computer—just know it’s not POTS, it’s VOIP, and that might affect what you can do.

Look for an FXO card that costs a lot unless you have a PCI slot (not PCIe). There might be an option using a VoIP adapter and connecting Asterisk, though it’s not guaranteed. I decided it was too pricey to try anyway.

They recommended purchasing the Fritz!Box 6490 for 4,99€ monthly with ISDN support, stating it was the sole viable choice. I previously disagreed, but if necessary, it could work.

The output from the cable modem is essentially POTS, which can be routed via a Digium analog interface to the Asterisk server.

You could connect the Sipura SPA1001 to your Asterisk server and configure it accordingly. Setting it up as a Docker container might be possible, though I don’t have specific tutorials on that exact setup. Look for free guides or community resources that mention deploying hardware like this in cloud or container environments. Let me know if you need help finding such materials!

It's been about eight years since I set up my own Asterisk/FreePBX server. The equipment is starting to fail and needs adjustments. It has an FXS port for connecting a phone, but it requires an FXO port to link with the existing VoIP bridge. https://www.3cx.com/pbx/fxs-fxo/

They appear to be more than three times as numerous in the UK compared to other regions.
