Hi there, I’m handling the landline phone setup for my Internet Service Plan with Cable Unitymedia in Germany. I wasn’t using it before, but I’d like to enable calls from my PC through that line. The setup should resemble this: - Incoming call - Connect to modem - Access my Unraid machine - Ringing on all my devices (possibly outside my home network) - Being picked up or sent to voicemail. Unfortunately, I’m not very familiar with phone tech. I’ve done my best research and found Asterisk seems relevant. Please let me know if you can help clarify things. I appreciate your time! It seems this will need more than just a basic modem. We set up Asterisk and had to get a special DSP card for POTS connections. Of course, we also required four line connections, making a single-line modem feasible. The DSP also handles echo cancellation, which can be an issue in POTS/VoIP systems.

Unfortunately, I'm tied to a low-quality ConnectBox from Unitymedia. I might have been able to purchase an AVM FritzBox 6490, but I'd prefer to invest that money elsewhere.

Your phone line shares the same cable as your internet connection. You can connect them by linking the phone to the internet port and ensuring both devices are properly powered and configured.

Use the gray TEL connectors from the ConnectBox and link it to a device such as a 56K* USB CONTROLLER DIAL-UP EXTERNAL FAX MODEM that supports voice.

Use a telephone line splitter with your DSL connection. If the phone line is connected to your network modem, link the analog modem to that setup on your modem.

You're looking for a similar device, perhaps a Sipura SPA1001, and you're concerned about the price. You'd need to explore options that match its specifications, then follow the recommended steps for installation or usage.
