Convert 3-pin Argb signal to a 4-pin connector on the device
The Montech Air 100 uses its own hub and is powered through SATA. The case button lets you manage lighting. For full motherboard integration, you need a board with a 3-pin ARGB header—currently unavailable for this model. The MSI Pro B760M-P supports only 4-pin RGB 12V, not the 5V ARGB needed. You can purchase an external ARGB to RGB hub that translates 5V ARGB into 12V effects, though it won’t support all animations. Simply put: you can’t connect a 3-pin ARGB directly to a 4-pin RGB setup. Choose the included controller or a separate ARGB control box instead.
RGB (4 pin) works with 12V analog signals, meaning all colors are uniform. An RGB (3 pin) operates at 5V digital, allowing precise control over LED hues. You can't connect it directly; attempting that risks damaging components. Use a converter such as the one listed online. Alternatively, check if your case includes a switch for color modes—pressing a button might let you cycle through pre-set colors. If built-in, these presets could look better than converting RGB to ARGB.
The suggested converter functions correctly when the reset switch is linked to it, allowing control via the case button. You're not mistaken. The fans and hub use 3-pin connectors, while the board uses 4-pin. Updated September 9, 2025 by Salt3sweat
When the "RESET SW" is linked to a case button, pressing it will switch through different modes of the controller included with the case. For instance: Mode 0 = Mobo controlled (usually lights off), Mode 1 = All Red, Mode 2 = All Green, Mode 3 = Breathing effect, Mode 4 = Rainbow. The exact functions aren't confirmed, but these examples illustrate what you might see. You only need the converter if you wish to manage the LEDs via your motherboard or software (BIOS or app). That's why I suggested skipping the converter—your controller likely already offers sufficient modes. PS I noticed you're new here; please mention names so others receive alerts.
