Hey everyone, I recently assembled my new PC and am facing issues with the fan hub detection. I'm using the one that came with the Lian Li 216 case. I've set up L-Connect, but it reports that the hub isn't being detected, which means the fans are always running at full speed and getting quite loud. I'm having trouble finding any guidance on this problem. Any advice would be really helpful!

You might test them by connecting them to certain headers on your motherboard. Check if PWM functions correctly; if yes, it’s likely the fan hub is the issue. Don’t forget to update the BIOS and install the latest L-connect software—helpful experience once.

You linked them straight to the motherboard and adjusted the BIOS settings, and it worked. The hub cable only has three pins, not four, which means you can't control fan speeds properly. If this is why Lian Li includes fans with four pins but uses a three-pin hub, you might be missing something in your setup.

It's puzzling because that's exactly what the site states. I really don't want to say this, but I feel like your fan hub isn't using PWM for any reason.

DC enthusiasts also have options, though the control method differs (6V to 12V instead of a fixed 12V...). I typically use DC fans in my setup. Likely, depending on the manufacturer they might look quite similar. Edit: only variation here is the increased speed during startup. Updated March 12, 2023 by leclod

It could be an issue with your fan hub. The motherboard appears to function properly. Updated March 12, 2023 by filpo

You can manage your fans through the built-in BIOS settings or via third-party software.

In my bios I configured DC or PWM and the fan response (quiet, speed...) during startup in Windows I rely on an ASUS application (for my mainboard) which manages fans among other tasks. I assume your mainboard also includes a specific utility for this purpose. Edited March 12, 2023 by leclod

I used MSI Dragon Center, but the app doesn't display any information about fan speeds or GPU/CPU statistics.

It seems the issue changed after you tried it, though you're unsure why. The problem might have resolved itself on its own.
