I was wondering if someone could assist me. I have a problem with my PC where it sometimes mimics holding down the control key even when I'm not. It typically begins while playing games, requiring me to press a key combination by accident, which then triggers the control key. I've tried various keyboards, but the issue persists, leaving me uncertain about how to resolve it. If anyone could help identify the cause and suggest a fix, I would really appreciate it.

This issue on my PC occasionally makes it seem like I'm holding down control even when I'm not. It typically begins while playing games, forcing me to press a key combination by mistake, which then triggers the control key unintentionally.
Not unusual for me to accidentally activate keys and set shortcuts that aren't meant to be used.
My first idea would be Sticky Keys. ("WIN" + "I" > Ease of Access > Keyboard)
You might also check the Game bar, though that's less likely.

Review the shortcuts and focus on those involving the Ctrl key...

Consider mentioning the keyboard model and other keyboards you've used to help identify if the OS is the problem. List your specifications as follows:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS: if windows 10, which version?

There is a problem on my PC where it sometimes feels like I'm holding down control even when I'm not. It typically begins while playing games and I accidentally press a key combination, causing the control key to behave unexpectedly.
This isn't unusual for me—I often hit keys by mistake and trigger shortcuts that aren't meant to be used.
My first idea would be Sticky Keys.
("WIN" + "I" > Ease of Access > Keyboard)
You might check the Game bar for possible solutions.

Review the shortcuts listed and focus on those involving the Ctrl key.
Observe which games you play and see if any have lingering shortcut settings after they close.

I'll just present my answer here since I finally resolved the issue after months of frustration. I think it occurred only in Microsoft Excel when using the CTRL key, but not elsewhere. I removed and unplugged my 3Dconnexion Spacemouse Pro, which was used for 3D modeling. Their software and drivers have always been problematic. TL;DR: stay cautious about your peripherals and their drivers.
