It would suit a PFSense configuration nicely, but it would be excessive in most areas. Energy use would spike significantly. Its cost remains a major advantage.

I would set up a hypervisor on it using PFSense as a guest along with additional services. Otherwise, it would remain unused and consume unnecessary energy. 1U rack-mounted servers tend to be quite noisy, so confirm you have a designated area for installation.
