Some reviews mention 5800X and 12600K running at around 50W idle, with 5800X hitting about 160 peak and 12600K reaching ~250+W under load. However, the tweaktown chart indicates that 5800X consumes significantly more power than the 12600K (idle 240, stress 495). Which one is accurate depends on the specific data source being referenced.

Uh, 5800x absolutely does not idle at 240 and peak at 495. Mine idles at ~35w and in PBO I see ~155W or so in certain benchmarks.

The system wouldn't operate under such high energy demands.

This appears to be the source where he's gathering details. I'm not entirely sure what they're discussing. https://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/9671/a...text=Power consumption for the 5800X is a bit higher than its Intel counterparts. That said%2C we have 297 watts at idle%2C 495 watts CPU load%2C and 635 watts during gaming.

I believe you're mixing up CPU power consumption with overall system power use. These processors are actually more energy-efficient than what you're comparing them to. For instance, the stock 5800X is limited to about 142W during operation and usually draws around 20W when idle.

After reviewing again, the TT graphs represent system power usage.

I expected those figures to represent energy usage – the total power the machine consumes from the outlet.
