Constructing AdviceHelp with this PC, will it function properly?
I'm asking for a friend who's asking for a friend who's asking for a friend, crazy i know. But here i am.
Specs are as follows:
CPU
• AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU
• AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
Board
• ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E or ASUS ROG Strix B850-E
Can't make up my mind which board to take, would be so nice if you can help me out... pros/cons? The most expensive option isn't always the best.
PSU
• BE QUIET! Dark Power Pro 13 1300W
I've read bad reviews about this power supply like explosions or disturbing noise, however the previous series (pro 12) sold out. Any titanium 80 plus alternatives?
Will 1000W be fine for this system?
Display
• ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM
This monitor is 4k, 240Hz and uses Displayport 2.0, can the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card even handle the UHBR 80 spec or should i wait for the next gen?
I want to avoid DSC.
Case
• Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
CPU Cooler
• Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360
Keyboard
• Any non RGB with fast responsetimes
Help me find one?
Mouse
• Logitech G502 HERO
Memory/Ram
• dual channel DDR5 2x16 GB or 2x32 GB
On AMD's website i couldn't find EXPO certified ram from corsair, is there any corsair ram that will work out well as dual memory channel with expo enabled?
Otherwise which brands can you recommend? From my understanding the ram should have a low CL number (low latency) and high MT/HZ.
What's the best DDR5 options with lowest CL combined with highest HZ? For example my current corsair vengeance runs at C16 combined with 3200MHz.
I can't find anything near C16 when it comes to DDR5. Your help is greatly appreciated.
When seeking advice on new builds or upgrades, it's important to acknowledge the appropriate context. This response is based on a previous adaptation of the Animal's guide about asking for build advice. Forums. and the community can offer helpful tips for improving your friend's PC setup. If you're in Europe, please mention your country so we can consider local currency and product options. A budget estimate will also be needed to proceed.
When it comes to the motherboard, what features on those boards are you seeing as desirable? $350 is a lot for a board. Only outstanding things I see are 5 m.2 slots and 5Gbps network and WiFi 7. Do you have a 5Gbps network to plug it into? Do you need 5 M.2 slots?
Can't really think of a slow keyboard out there. For gaming it is best to get a keyboard with N-Key rollover so that you can press lots of buttons at once. Beyond that I don't mind a decent Logitech carbon for a basic mechanical keyboard.
On the GPU / Display question, you are kind of stuck with what is available. Not very monitors are up to date and only the very latest GPUs support the latest standards. If you are going with a 7900XTX, not much else to say there, it has the ports it has. RTX 5080 if you want to be on the bleeding edge.
You aren't going to find CL16 DDR5, but the current consensus is CL30 6000MT/s or CL32 6400MT/s I have picked out a Corsair kit below with EXPO support. Equivalent would be CL15 3000 and CL16 3200 which were common speeds for DDR4. AMD doesn't really like to go any faster.

Understanding your location and budget would assist us. Here is a 4K gaming configuration I shared yesterday, featuring DDR5-6000 CL28, a board with PCIe 5, and a Realtek 4080 audio codec, an ATX 3.1 PSU, among others.

I used the Asus Strix X870E with a 9800X3D and installed 64 GB (2x32) Corsair 6000 MHz CL30 RAM. It wasn't stable at first, but after changing the timing to CL32 it worked well. Recently I updated the BIOS, which might make CL30 more stable. I'm considering trying it again, though some online tests suggest the difference would be negligible.
Great!
Yes, location is europe, i'd rather keep my country private but will say i'm able to buy products from many european countries.
Budget is around 4000 euro, targeting a high end pc, however the most expensive is not always a good choice so when recommending products please keep that in mind^^
Absolutely in line with what you said before, 350 is a significant amount of money for a board.
The 5 m.2 slots along with the 5Gbps network and wifi7 don’t seem logical to me.
Stability and performance are the priorities, so there’s no need for an overpowered device.
Two m.2 slots would be perfectly sufficient.
Could the ROG Strix B850-E support a graphics card and sound card simultaneously while still using the GPU PCIe 1x16 instead of 2x8? Would that split bandwidth in half?
I’m not familiar with N-Key rollover.
How does this actually function in real life? Pressing many keys at once feels like a typical scenario for any gaming PC?
Even though the budget isn’t a concern, I dislike Nvidia for several reasons such as misleading paper launches, fake MSRP, intentional price hikes, and exaggerated performance claims.
Pushing money into Nvidia’s greedy strategy isn’t something I’m interested in.
The main question is whether to purchase the current AMD flagship or wait for a future release, despite reports suggesting AMD has reduced production of high-end GPUs.
What about the 7900XTX? Does it support UHBR 80 Gbps?
Thanks for recommending that RAM, I found the Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory on the Corsair website and checked the linked device code: CMK32GX5M2B6000C30. AMD’s Expo certified RAM list doesn’t show any matches for that device code.
How did you determine this RAM is Expo compatible?
Also, there’s a CL28 Corsair Vengeance RAM—shouldn’t it be better to choose that instead of CL30?
The stability depends mainly on the clock speed and timing, not directly on the RAM size. The PC can reboot without memory changes, so it's not affected by whether the RAM is 2x16 or 2x32 GB.
In summary, several aspects are still unclear.
GPU
• It needs to comply with DP 2.0 UHBR 80 standards.
Board
• The price should be close to 200 euros, not because additional exemption options aren’t available, but because spending hundreds of euros on a board is clearly unreasonable.
Power supply
• The BE QUIET Dark Power Pro 13 appears prone to overheating and making noise, as reported by some users; therefore, I’m considering a titanium 80 plus certified alternative.
Keyboard
• Logitech G413 SE PBT works fine since I don’t want to spend on unnecessary RGB features. A solid mechanical keyboard suffices. However, the lights on this model illuminate the keys, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to permanently turn them off after each boot, as disabling them post-boot isn’t practical.
Are you thinking about adding a sound card? One of the reasons to consider premium audio equipment is the availability of top-tier solutions. I don’t remember the last time I suggested a genuine sound card that wasn’t a temporary fix. Most users above a certain audiophile threshold opt for affordable USB DACs instead.
Budget keyboards often have limited key rollover. Older membrane models typically allow only one key press per section, while N-key switches let you press all keys and still register them correctly.
The 7900XTX supports 80Gbps via Display Port 2.1, HDMI, but 4K at 144Hz would be the maximum without DSC. With DSC, it reaches 4K at 240Hz.
The memory model I referenced has the EXPO code on its marketing image and is listed on their site. Some kits support both, this one is among them.

I usually check each one separately, though a few are well-known. CL28 works if you can find it at a fair price.
