People always react with shock when they realize I paid for a full license.

Okay, I’ll replace that. Good to know. I kinda just used Starfield recommended specifications when selecting GPU and CPU since that’s kinda the reason for my transition to PC. (For now)
EDIT: looked around and am not finding any RTX 4070 below 800 CAD. Not quite sure I’ll be able to manage that with the wife…
This is what I’ve got so far:

Would like to try and reduce it to around 1500, probably by purchasing second-hand (Kijiji/eBay) what could I get away with when acquiring used parts?

So just an update. Here’s my build now.
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/FQmLC6
Was able to find a less expensive GPU from a person in Ontario willing to ship for 650 altogether. Wanted to return here and see what everyone thinks and if there’s anything that I’m missing fitment-wise or compatibility-wise. As the title states I have never assembled a computer and until last week I had no idea what a 6800Xt or really the difference between GPU and CPUs.
Thanks again everyone for all the assistance, it’s greatly appreciated.

I like everything but the motherboard, the VRMs are not the best.

I would, but only so I could document it for reporting of his PC shop/the PC shop he works at/his made-up top secret coding firm/whatever else today’s fiction is. Microsoft doesn't pursue individuals, but they certainly pursue companies installing those dubious licenses as basic practice.
