Construct Advice I5 13600K & RTX 4060 8GB
Construct Advice I5 13600K & RTX 4060 8GB
I'm moving from a 6th generation Intel Core i5 laptop that failed due to a motherboard problem. I'm planning to use it for Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, some gaming, and everyday multitasking. As someone new to PC building, I'd like advice on compatibility and component selection.
Planned Build Details
CPU: Intel Core i5-13600K
GPU: Nvidia RTX 4060
SSD: Samsung 990 Pro M.2 2TB
RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z RGB DDR5 7200 C34 2x16GB
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX
Looking for suggestions on cooler, power supply, and case choices. I'm unsure which parts to pick as a beginner and would appreciate any tips or feedback.
Processor Upgrade Thoughts
I'm evaluating whether the i5-13600K is optimal or if the i5-14600K or i7-13700K would be more suitable, balancing performance and cost. Any guidance would be helpful.
Appreciate your support!
Which nation do you hail from, what financial range are you working with, what resolution are you aiming for, and do you prefer an RGB or a non-RGB configuration?
depends on the specific goals you have for the system and the performance you anticipate.
cooler largely depends on the CPU you choose.
power supply is crucial.
many people make mistakes by purchasing low-quality units based on wattage claims and "Gold" ratings.
considering the manufacturer's warranty adds to the overall quality assessment.
look for a warranty covering 10 years with device connectivity.
the case design leaves much to personal preference, affecting the final choice.
with numerous options and aesthetic variations, finding the ideal setup can take time.
good airflow combined with proper filtration is essential for mid-to-high performance systems.
two of my top picks are the Be Quiet! Silent Base 802 and the Lian Li LanCool III.
i still have an older "list" of recommended models available on Newegg, which can help illustrate what's currently out there.
it’s advisable to use a smaller drive (256-480GB) for operating systems and basic tasks, and a second or third drive for games and projects.
don’t forget to secure a separate backup location for critical data.
your overall budget will significantly influence your decision.

but, for what exactly;
what type of projects in your Adobe software
what games in particular, what type of in-game settings and what kind of performance are you expecting?
do you already have a display or are you waiting for someone to also include a new monitor for you?
and are you just waiting for someone to create an entire build for you
or would you rather pick out parts(case, cooler, etc) that fit your preferred aesthetics?
I plan to work mainly in Illustrator and Photoshop, with some game development as well (real time projects). 1080p resolution will suit me perfectly according to my requirements.
I’m not sure whether to choose an AMD CPU or an Intel core—after checking benchmark lists, the i7 14700KF stands out as the top performer, followed by the i5 14600KF. These are significantly better than the AMD Ryzen 7 CPUs. (Based on my budget.)
Thanks for your assistance; it really helps to have a clearer picture of what hardware I’ll need.
Okay! I’m considering upgrading to a 1 TB SSD, since my storage needs will grow over time.
I’ll opt for cheaper storage options like HDDs for cost-effectiveness.
Prices are around 800 to 850, with 900 being the best I can afford.
maybe this is what I'm really struggling with—games like valorant or cs go.
my work includes photo editing, graphic design, web and app design, digital painting, and more.
perhaps the second option is that I don't have a monitor yet. (I was thinking 1080p would work well within my budget)
How heavy is your gaming? I'd say aim for a bigger card - 4070 or 7800xt.
This is a quick one I made if you are in the US

Thank you for the build suggestion.
I enjoy games such as Valorant, CS:GO, and some titles from Resident Evil.
I’m not deeply into gaming; I need tools that assist with my graphic work in Photoshop and Illustrator.
Also, 4070 or 7800xt seem quite costly for me. 😢
But I truly value your assistance and effort.
