Constant frame rate decreases or freezing occurs only in certain games (MHR, MHW, and RE8)
Hardware details include a 3060Ti Ventus 2x OC with 8GB, a Ryzen 7 2700x processor, B450-F motherboard, 16GB DDR4 RAM. All installed games are on a Crucial MX500 SSD, and performance was tested at 1080p only. The issue primarily appeared in Monster Hunter Rise, with frame drops to around 40fps despite the system being capable of higher speeds. I suspect the problem isn’t with my PC itself, as it runs other demanding titles smoothly, but rather something specific to the game or its engine. I’ve tried reinstalling drivers, reinstalling games, adjusting graphics settings multiple times, and still haven’t found a solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Stop using the internet.
Remove the GPU driver via DDU (clean your system carefully, do not restart).
Uninstall all processors—this is essential. Ensure you remove 16 processors if required, and when prompted for a restart, select no to continue uninstalling.
Open Device Manager, uninstall AMD Chipset Software, then restart the PC to BIOS. After updating, return to BIOS and set default or optimized settings. Disable CSM, enable Above 4G Decoding and Resizable bar options (these features won’t appear unless CSM is off), then save changes and exit.
Power on Windows and install the newest Chipset driver (version 4.03.xx or later). Restart the system.
Install the latest NVIDIA driver, then reconnect to the internet.
Run Command Prompt as Administrator, execute defrag (e.g., C: drive for SSDs, other volumes similarly), then repeat with /o /u /v for the entire SSD volume. For HDDs, perform the same but use /d /o /u /v only. Continue all these steps offline until the system reboots after installing the chipset driver.
Ensure RAM is installed in slots 2 and 4 if you have only two sticks. If your RAM is 3600MHz, consider downclocking it to between 3200 and 3466 after enabling XMP.
Gather necessary files before proceeding, follow the steps in sequence.
Execute chkdsk /x /f /r, then run sfc /scannow.
Check for Windows updates and install them unless you choose an optional update. Activate Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling (NVIDIA GPUs only) in graphics settings and restart.
Thank you for your detailed response. I spent some time reviewing this process this morning, though it seems to have had little impact on the MHR demo. I'm currently downloading re8 to check if it performs better... I'm okay with either option, but I'm starting to feel resigned about being unable to play Capcom games.
