Also, the challenge lies in connecting consumer broadband links—it's a lot of work around the clock, and these systems weren't built for this kind of setup.

Several routers allow linking via USB, though phones aren't built for continuous connection. Using a hotspot isn't advised and might stop when the device isn't active.

I mostly rely on my phone as a constant connection, which is surprising since we didn’t realize USB tethering existed.
