Consistent frame rate but unstable performance.
Consistent frame rate but unstable performance.
Use NVIDIA Fast Sync. Try again. Your current CPU isn’t ideal for high refresh gaming.
Start with the fact that frames per second doesn't always match refresh rate. A game running at 600 FPS might appear poor if it's not aligned with your monitor's refresh speed. It's wise to cap your FPS or use tools like GSync or FreeSync to keep performance in sync with your screen (like 165 Hz). If your game outputs 300 FPS, your monitor should cycle through frames accordingly—skipping and waiting—so the output matches the display's capabilities. A 165 Hz monitor will render one frame, skip one, then another, creating a smooth but slightly delayed effect. Make sure your monitor is truly hitting 165 Hz; Windows often sets it to 60 Hz by default. Also, be cautious of updates that might reset these settings. The Nvidia driver should support 165 Hz as well. Any refresh rate setting must match 165 Hz or it will fall back to a lower value. Let me know if this helps clarify things.
Thanks for your response. Appreciate the feedback. Even at 165 fps, the game still feels choppy, particularly in CS2. Using G-VSync doesn’t help much.
Thanks for your reply. Really? I thought this cpu was a great budget option for this. What should i use?
Ryzen 7 5700X3D or 5800X3D with a platform upgrade to AM5 or LGA1700.
