Hey everyone - just wrapped up a PC upgrade and ran into some hiccups. Here’s what I’ve got: specs included, the issue I faced, and the steps I tried so far. I followed Asrock’s instructions closely and everything looks good there. Edit: I didn’t actually note the problem at first, but now I’m curious. No CPU or RAM fan noise, and the pins in the socket seem intact.
I used a Noctua cooler with two spring-loaded screws. I kept following the instructions that came with it. The CPU and DRAM lights were active.
It was my initial reaction too, and I replaced the CPU just to be safe. Nothing happened.
I tried re-seating the Ram. A few weeks ago I noticed the board only had a release at the bottom of the slots. I thought it was fine, but it seemed to need a bit more force up high to get a click from the top part. Even though there wasn’t a full release, it still had some kind of mechanism.
I was dealing with some issues a few weeks back while fixing a new build. It turned out the problems stemmed from the RAM not working properly at the claimed speeds, especially when running newer games. I've faced so many compatibility challenges and quirky behavior from these newer chipsets and CPUs before. Apologies for the inconvenience.
The system is starting now (I reached out to asrock support together with this post, and they recommended resetting the CMOS, which helped). New issue: My M.2 device isn't being detected. It's not an NVMe model, and my OS (Fedora Linux) is already installed. I'll test another M.2 slot and let you know what happens.
