I'm looking for a multiplayer FPS right now—I'm leaning toward CS:GO or BF Hardline. Do you need a subscription to play BF on PC? I've only played it on console before. Are there other solid options? Also, am I thinking about getting the first two Witcher games before the third one? Would they enhance my experience for the third? None of these have been my experience yet. Cheers!

CSGO offers a tougher scene compared to BF Hardline, and you don’t have to pay for access. Playing online is completely free.

Don't take things too seriously! If you're looking for a lower-cost option with extra features, try BF4 instead.

Sorry, I didn't realize I missed mentioning my experience with BF4 and Cod A.W. on Xbox. Thanks for the reminder!

The initial two Witcher titles are definitely worth checking out. They aren’t necessary prerequisites for the third, as CDPR aimed to keep it approachable for newcomers. Still, it’s clear there will be a lot of references you won’t grasp unless you’ve played the first two, let alone the books themselves. If you’re genuinely curious about The Witcher’s rich lore, I strongly suggest reading the novels before diving into the games. Without the books, you’d miss out on the nuance of many character connections and storylines.

I believe I'll grab the first two then... I had no idea there were books I needed to check out!

Hardline is genuinely fun to play. I've been using it a lot since it was released. It's priced at just £25 or $40 on G2A, which really adds to the appeal.

You'll face a learning curve with CSGO, yet its responsiveness stands out. Most other shooters feel slow and unengaging (to me and my friends). The community includes some positive members but also many negatives. You don't need to spend extra, though most players buy skins. Battlefield promises more enjoyment and smoother gameplay. It's more about the challenge you're willing to take.
