Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well! Your thoughts are really important to me. Many of you have made great decisions about PCs and games, so I wanted to share my confusion. After a couple of months, GTA 4 is back on Steam, but I'm not sure if I should buy it again or not. If I do, should I consider using any mods?

GTA IV returned on Steam after several adjustments such as Windows life removal, and stopping online play. Some radios and tracks were taken out because of licensing issues. The main benefit of the return is that everything is now packaged together—GTA IV plus episodes from Liberty City instead of purchasing them separately. Still, the same GPU issues persist for systems with more than 2GB VRAM; it causes bugs and prevents further graphics upgrades. I used to resolve this via command line, but now even that isn’t working for me. I’m hoping Steam will release an update to fix this problem.

You should think twice about purchasing it. Also, with a GPU over 2 GB, we can't fully optimize the settings unless we use mods.

I didn't attempt to modify the Steam edition, but mods seem possible. I haven't looked for a solution that could work on Steam yet.

Consider buying the Steam version if you want access to the game.

The Rockstar launcher provides an option to purchase, but I don’t see another place offering a digital version of GTA IV. I’d really appreciate fixing the +2GB RAM issue so I can enjoy it with improved graphics.

I wouldn't give it a shot—it didn't work before and keeps failing now. Trying to modify a game just to play it is not acceptable. Rockstar and Steam don't care about your money. If you're looking for a better experience, consider GTA5 instead.
