Considering a beneficial enhancement for my CPU
Hello! I have a 3600 and a 1660 Ti running now, and I’m planning to upgrade both the GPU and CPU soon. Mostly I’ll be gaming at 1080p with a high refresh rate monitor, so I’m wondering if it’s worth upgrading the CPU or should I focus all my budget on the GPU? Here are some approximate prices for parts nearby: 5600 (or 5600x, same price): 190 euros; 5700x: 270 euros; 5800x: 280 euros; 5900x: 370 euros; 5800x3d: 500 euros. I won’t need a motherboard change for any 5000 CPU since I’m using an x570 Steel Legend, and my main idea is to grab a low-end CPU and an RTX 6650 for around 400 euros. Thanks in advance for your advice!
The 5600 and models like the 6650XT or 6700XT seem most appealing. The performance gap between the 5600 and other 5000 series units isn't huge in games, and the 5800X3D makes more sense for 3080 Tis and beyond, though it's tough to justify going over the 5900X.
It seems you're questioning whether upgrading your CPU is necessary for a 6650XT. The 3600 can handle most GPUs well, especially in games. Checking performance videos of Ryzen 5 models will show how the 5700XT and 6650XT compare, revealing that the 3600X and 5600X often match closely when used together.
