Hello, I understand you're unsure about the best operating system for your Toshiba C660. Given its specs—2.53GHz Intel i3, 2GB RAM, and X64 architecture—it's likely running Windows 7. Upgrading to Windows 8 might not significantly improve performance on such a low-end machine. Stick with Windows 7 unless you have specific needs that require a newer version. For compatibility, X64 is recommended for better support.

Would that work with only 2GB of storage? I don’t want it to become any more sluggish than it already is.

Which version of Windows 7 are you running—32-bit or 64-bit? If you're on the 64-bit version, downgrading to a 32-bit edition could be the reason for your performance problems. Your installation should include both versions. Upgrading to Windows 8 won't fix this issue and would be an unnecessary expense. You have a 32-bit CPU; it should work with Windows 7 without issues. Verify your system settings or check if your C: drive needs defragmentation. Also, boost your RAM usage—currently, 4-8 GB is typical, but 8-16 GB is ideal, though extra is not recommended. You're running Windows 7 on a 64-bit system and have Windows 8 available, so you're not concerned about compatibility or cost.

Thank you for your messages. I'll switch to Windows 10 soon after it releases and boost my RAM to 4GB or higher if affordable options appear.
