Do you understand the board has four slots? Four PCIe slots are no longer a problem for AMD anymore—previously it was 1xxx and 2xxxx.
Hello, Ryzen 1600AF owner. Two nearly identical RAM sets perform well on your X470. Mixing them isn't advised—probably what Jon-Slow meant.
I only had $50 left from my budget for the RAM upgrade, so I wasn’t able to go all the way.
It was noted earlier that my CPU only accommodates two RAM sticks, meaning adding more wouldn't enhance performance.
You're interpreting dual channel RAM differently. It's a combination of two sticks working together, but you can also use four sticks to achieve dual channels by pairing them. As long as they're connected in pairs, the system treats them as dual. Your CPU can handle up to four slots, and your motherboard supports four slots.
2 works better than 4. 4 equals two of 2 when it comes to dual channel. A group operates in dual channel. 4 contains two pairs. This just explains dual channel for you again. Once more, 2 is simpler than 4.
