This focuses mainly on boosting RAM speeds, whether it's just for personal experimentation or if you require extremely fast memory for specific tasks.

You narrowed the problem to the motherboard by checking other components and verifying the Windows installation process. You confirmed it wasn’t a general issue with the OS setup.

I mentioned earlier that I had reinstalled Windows several times. I didn’t realize I also attempted Linux Mint, which also didn’t boot properly after multiple restarts to force it. This isn’t related to the operating system itself.

I checked the system logs, observed the error messages, and tested each component to confirm the problem was related to the motherboard.

I've tested two different storage options—my SK Hynix Platinum P41 2TB and Samsung 870 EVO 2TB—on both Linux and Windows systems. I've also upgraded from a 13GB RAM to a 14GB RAM configuration when it was released, but nothing changed. Temperatures are normal; I monitor CPU, GPU, RAM, motherboard, and drives using hwinfo and stress tests. No issues with the operating system, multiple drives, or RAM performance since it runs at JEDEC speeds. I've updated the BIOS and think there might be other factors I haven't mentioned, except the motherboard itself.

That suggests your motherboard might be faulty. It seems you're likely aiming to boost overclocking, but that's not a solid reason to replace the board.

Disable "Late Command Training" since it usually doubles training time and rarely improves stability. Most boards enable it by default, and with larger DIMMs it can really slow down booting. Unless you're changing timings often, this isn't a major concern. 7400 is already near the point where returns stop being worthwhile. I'm unlikely to notice much difference between DDR5 7200 and DDR5 8000+. This appears to be the only real issue here. In the rare cases I've seen it, it's usually due to driver problems—often GPU, SSD, overclocking, or BIOS—that a newer revision can fix. The motherboard might still be involved, but it's less likely than other components. Even if it is, getting an upgrade at an Apex shop for a daily system doesn't make much sense. The performance gains from faster RAM are minimal at best, and cheaper alternatives will suffice.

I’m still working on my writing skills, so sometimes my words don’t come together perfectly. Boosting overclocking performance is one of my goals, but it’s not the top priority. The main issue I face is getting started properly, which is why I need to replace it.

I understand how sensitive I am to latency and microstutters, especially with a high refresh monitor that makes these problems more obvious. I’ve noticed the board seems to behave oddly. This time I’m determined to find the root cause thoroughly. I’ll explore options like buying a used board at a discount or selling my old one to avoid spending too much.

I confirmed that point. However, "I've had several before and they consistently produce this kind of issue" The likelihood that one faulty board exists from the start is low, while the odds that multiple boards are involved are even smaller. The probability you're seeing these patterns firsthand is significantly greater. Edited December 13, 2023 by leclod
