Hey everyone, my friend let me try The Witcher 3 on my PC using his GOG configuration. The game is currently discounted, and I’m trying to figure it out myself. I played for around 30 minutes and eventually reached the horse section—it was the most enjoyable part of the experience. I’m doing okay with the medium setting; it runs smoothly without any noticeable lag. Turning up to high caused frame drops, dropping from around 60 to 35 or 45 frames. I’m not sure what’s happening, but I’m curious about the performance. My PC specs are an i5 2500k, 8GB DDR3, MSI R9 270x, and 2GB RAM. What I’m wondering is whether I can play at medium settings without too many issues.
It works well at 1080p. My friend used R9 280 and an AMD Athlon II x4 641. Although his graphics card was stronger, his CPU was much less powerful, so the GPU didn’t reach its full potential.
Alright, you guys convinced me. Just one more thing if I can ask this. In my post I talked about The Witcher 3. I downloaded a torrent of Fallout 4 just to check if I was able to run it. Hope this isn't all to bad. I know downloading illegal is bad. I tested Fallout 4 and just like The Witcher 3 it runs fine at medium preset. My last question that I have right now: Fallout 4 or The Witcher 3? I love both genres but I already got Dragon Age Inquisition last week, which is also a bit like TW3.
Adjust these parameters: Texture, ultra; Detail, ultra; Ultra Water, ultra; Shadows, medium; Foliage, medium; Terrain, ultra AA; Apply HBAO+ blur/motion blur. Set to 30fps for a smoother experience. Your 7950 (R9 280) running TW3 at 1440p with these settings gives a stable 30fps, which works well for the game.
This game is a significant downgrade from the earlier titles, as expressed by dedicated players of the previous games.
A game similar to Witcher could handle difficulty levels between 35 and 45.
Fighting is significantly harder in DA:I. Witcher feels overly simple. DA:I had decent gameplay, but not as polished as DA:O, yet it was still much improved over DA2.
I think DAI is less exciting compared to what I've experienced in the past five years: sad, but I can't spend more than two hours on it and feel like I've lost my time.
