I mean there are community maps available for CSGO that work well in competitive matches. Examples include Operation Phoenix, Breakout, and Vanguard.

They're not as significant as they seem. Ultimately, you should figure out what matters most to you—whether it's using textures in GMOD, playing the game, or having an active community and mods. CS:GO comes with its own pros and cons, but the decision is yours. I own both games now and no longer play CS:GO. The Overwatch matchmaking system is worth considering too, especially given its shortcomings and the risk of unfair bans.

The source is quite flashy. Valve didn’t do a good job when they launched Source. It feels completely different from CS:GO 1.6, which is why I’ve only spent about 20 hours on it—I just couldn’t go any further. CS:GO is super popular, but if you can’t afford skins or open cases, you won’t get the most out of the game (skins are the main reason people talk about this one). I enjoy CS:GO even without the fancy skins because I’ve played the whole series since I was a kid. Keep an eye on Christmas Steam sales; you’ll likely snag both for a fraction of the cost, probably around $10–15 for the whole pack. It’s not that expensive after all.

It's not about purchasing skins to have fun; the game offers its own enjoyment. The competitive matchmaking is another strong advantage in CSGO.

Sure, just grab the Counter-Strike Complete set. I purchased it for around $4 each time.

CS:GO is a current game. I removed Source from my Steam collection some time ago. It was time to progress.
