In a few hours I plan to bring my laptop into the Microsoft Store because I’m facing several issues with the screen—like a nick, minor scratches, bleeding backlight in two spots, and ghosting. I’m worried about data safety and whether my files or accounts could be affected. Should I take any steps to protect myself beforehand? I’m unsure if they’ll repair it or replace it entirely. What’s happened with similar problems? Please let me know if this isn’t the right place for my question.
Microsoft advises backing up all your data prior to proceeding. A new setup may be provided, or an upgraded version could be offered (subject to warranty and if within the return window).
It's wise to keep a backup of your data whenever you use a computer, especially if it holds significant value to you.
