I located my previous computer from 2010. It runs Windows 7 but won't start. Upgrading via Windows 10 prompts removal and restart, yet nothing changes. I'm attempting a custom setup and encounter this issue. Error code 0x80070057 appears.

You should remove both items and place them in the remaining empty area. Always back up all data before proceeding.

It seems confusing, but you might want to press "shift+f10" to open a cmd. Then run "diskpart", type "list disk" and "list volume" to check the status. Make sure the old drive is still recognized before proceeding.

I might be mistaken, but the drive seems to be ready. Your note about it not booting 7 could be the reason. I can try cleaning and formatting if you want, it won’t hurt. For a quick walkthrough, check out the Seagate guide here: https://www.seagate.com/support/kb/how-t...-005929en/

Check if your Linux USB appears during GPART usage. If it doesn’t show up in GPARTED, the drive is likely dead. Refer to the guide "How to Use GParted: 9 Steps (with Pictures)" on wikiHow for instructions.
