You can enable and check the post, organize the cables, view the BIOS, and test the RAM. You don’t have to wait for a Windows 10 installation copy.

You don’t need a 4GB flash drive. No problem at all—just install the OS and boot it up first. Once that’s done, you won’t be able to do much except check your BIOS settings.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I didn’t realize I needed those items before… probably I can just walk into a store and pick one up.

These lightweight distros work well on compact flash cards. Ubuntu, Debian, and similar versions usually fit on 4GB drives, and older images from around 2012 should be fine too. Updating to newer versions is straightforward. Smaller drives are affordable almost everywhere. The same applies in Canada, considering the current value of the Canadian dollar relative to other currencies. You’ll likely need an 8GB drive, with the bootable USB occupying about 4.3GiB for the full installation, though this may vary slightly for later updates.

I'm a bit older than you. I remember high school really needed one, even though it was two years after I graduated.

Really? I thought my 4GB drive was still there and Windows was just updated a couple of years back.

I maintain a backup of the Windows 10 installer, refreshing it once I confirm the update works well on my device.

You can use a micro SD card with an adapter that connects to USB, and you don’t have to purchase a new USB device.
