Consider your needs carefully before choosing an x570 motherboard.
Considering an upgrade path for your system. Think about getting a 1600AF and improving it later. Pair it with 3200+ RAM and a fast GPU that runs Ark Survival Evolved at 1080p. Likely you'll find a used option under $100 for solid performance, otherwise you'd need a new one. Plan to upgrade the CPU and RAM, then build a second machine with those parts. Decide whether to wait for cheaper X570 boards or go for a B450 board, and if you upgrade the CPU, stick with a compatible X570 motherboard.
My budget can adjust easily, I’m aiming for a budget-friendly yet practical PC. I’m not looking to overspend since I don’t play many games.
the b550 seems interesting but isn't ready yet. it's hard to tell what others suggest, but the main drawback of the b450 right now is its inability to handle the upcoming Ryzen version. if you're okay pushing your upgrade to the Ryzen 3 series, it won't be a big issue. the x570 might be too much for most users. also, make sure to look at reviews for the chipset you intend to use.
I chose the X570 since (assuming I was employed then) I intend to swap my 3600 for whatever the 12-core version of Zen3 offers, and the Nvidia RTX 3000 series will run on PCI-E 4.0.
