I'm considering upgrading to something like the Ryzen 3900X or I7-9700KF. I'm not very familiar with them, but I'm upgrading mainly because I have an RTX 2080Ti and want to see if it improves performance. Right now, I'm running at 3840x1080 and games like Assassin's Creed Origins are lagging around 70-80 FPS. I'm curious if the upgrade would help. Let me know your thoughts!
The slight variation in IPC won't justify the cost. Improving performance isn't achieved by adding more cores; it's about better optimization. Even poorly coded games will function adequately. Your processor is still sufficient for gaming. If performance lags, the fault lies with the game, not your hardware. For a genuine upgrade, consider waiting until next year for the AM5 socket release. That way, you'll also have a clear path for future upgrades.
