My CPU upgrading rule of thumb is to upgrade every two generations if I want to keep current with gaming needs. That being said, I believe there is a very significant and worthwhile uptick in performance to be had, upgrading from your current Ryzen 1700 to something like a Ryzen 3600 or 3700x. Also either one of those processors would pair well with the 5700 I would think.
