It works well for anyone with another operating system, but it's great if you have a touchscreen tablet or 2-in-1 device.

It seems Windows 7 feels slow and awkward compared to Windows 8, especially after spending time on the latter.

No problem at all, I don’t need a touchscreen and it works really well for me.

metro ui is clear and concise, while the two distinct interfaces—metro and desktop—add complexity because each follows its own guidelines.

Is 10 available for 8.1 users? If yes, consider upgrading. 8.1 works fine.

It's not about forcing a switch between platforms. The Metro UI offers more details and icons, which some find appealing compared to the traditional start menu. I think it can be disabled if desired. Major updates don't automatically mean poor usability—changes often take time for users to adapt to.

I rarely power on the metro, it’s configured to boot from the desktop, which keeps it hidden. On my 2-in-1 device, it works perfectly.

I believed it was always QWERTY because of the era of typewriters?
