Consider upgrading to Windows 10 Tech Preview. Assess its stability for your primary setup or test it elsewhere. Your specifications are impressive—worth the effort!
I wouldn't risk it because if anything happens you might not be able to get your files back. If you actually decide to, make regular backups of your files. Also make sure you have a windows installation disk or recovery media just in case anything happens or you want to go back to your old os
Run it on a partition, second drive or VM, but don't use it as your main OS. It is a technical preview after all.
You're welcome. I'll likely test it in a VM or one of your Pentium D machines housed in a rack.
Relies on your perspective about privacy. The main goal of a 'technical preview' is for anyone who sets it up to try it out and fix any problems. This means Microsoft needs all the information about Windows 10 it can collect, treating every installer as a beta tester. They’ll record everything you type—whether you think it’s data collection or key logging is your concern. Personally, I wouldn’t switch to a new operating system until it’s been available for a year so issues are resolved and fixes are easily found using Google (because I’m a slow <beep>).
It doesn’t seem to qualify as key-logging since Microsoft clearly states they’re collecting information.
