I intended to use it for various AAA titles like Cod and Battlefield, and for streaming in Arma mainly.

5600x offers better speed compared to other options, and it works well with a more affordable motherboard.

AMD is also simpler to upgrade since they don’t change game designs for new sockets after each release.

I've just placed the order for the components needed for my new PC. This includes an AMD 5600x RTX 3080 with 64GB of RAM, Corsair 3600 Mghz RAM, a 1500VA power supply from Cyberpower, a 2k monitor, a Gen 3 M.2 drive, and multiple SATA SSDs from my previous system.

next cpu should fit an AM5 socket, otherwise it won't work this time unless they release a Zen3+ generation. This is similar to what happened with AM4—once it was out, upgrades became limited. It worked when AM4 launched and probably will again with AM5. Right now, the 5600x restricts upgrade options as much as Intel chips do. AMD has the better options currently, so I’d consider getting one if available; otherwise, Intel is an alternative.

What remains of your setup? For gaming purposes, the 5600x is a solid choice for affordability. There could be more optimal GPU pairings. At 1440p resolution, a 5600x paired with a 3060ti might not be ideal—consider going with a 10400f and a 3080 instead.

It seems the Ryzen 5000 line is expected to mark the end of the AM4 era. The next generation will use a different socket.

Zen3+ might fit in an AM5 connector, though its main challenge is creating a compatible I/O die for both DDR4 and DDR4-32 standards.
