I also suggest Webroot antivirus. At least think about it. I've been using it for my second year now with Malwarebytes Premium, and everything has been fine so far.
I understand his concern. My response wasn't about Norton, it was about picking better options for yourself. Avoid framing this as a personal attack—it's just your own perspective.
I definitely wouldn't recommend Norton at all because over the years their products protection went down hill. They also said that AV vendors will die soon, but guess what? They are the one that is going to die soon. But if you are looking for a better internet security suite then i recommend Kaspersky Internet Security 2016, Bitdefender Internet Security 2016 or ESET Smart Security 9.
