You're considering switching to Chrome OS on your Lenovo IdeaPad 100S. Since Windows 10 can feel sluggish and WebGL isn’t always smooth, Chrome OS might offer a lighter experience. There are options like Chromium or Chromixium that could let you run Linux apps alongside Chrome. Just check compatibility with your hardware and software needs before deciding.

Maybe it's simpler to choose a more familiar system like Ubuntu instead of starting from scratch.

I favor Chrome OS over Ubuntu due to its impressive trackpad controls such as two-finger scrolling.

Chrome is no longer widely used and has largely faded from the market.

You could easily rebuild recovery media to reinstall Windows 10 again. If ChromeOS isn’t your preference, simply formatting and restarting Windows would be an option. RemixOS is another possibility—you can even use a USB drive or SD card to keep your current Windows setup while testing it. The same applies to other Linux distributions; there’s likely something tailored to your needs. While I’m not very familiar with Linux, I understand the concept and know there are alternatives beyond what I recognize.

Chrome works best online, so offline use can cause problems with downloads. It’s better to stick with Windows 10. This version runs quicker than Windows 7. Consider a clean installation of Windows 10 to test its speed.

Use the free version of vmare and set up Linux if you need WebGL support.

It's a solid operating system, but unless your computer was always a Chromebook, it won't function properly outside of Chromium. I suggest trying a distribution and seeing what you can retrieve from Chrome OS.
