When you're in Germany, the European servers generally offer decent latency. I mostly rely on Swedish servers, but there are options in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Norway and more that also deliver solid performance.

I've been using PIA for a few years now – it performs well. That article influenced my decision to try them.

Some users have tried Mullvad, which appears alongside NordVPN in certain recommendation lists. It's unclear how it stacks up against other VPN services.

No, you don’t have to use servers for your own VPN. It works by routing your internet traffic through your own network setup, which can help with privacy and control.

No, it's not too complex to set up.

I’m currently using Mullvad for about six months. The servers in the US-CA region have been reliable and fast, with no issues so far. I joined from the reviews at http://thatoneprivacysite.net. Recently, I upgraded my internet to Gigabit and noticed that Mullvad speeds often cap around 200mbps on speedtest.net. I’m looking for a VPN that could push me closer to gigabit speeds. My main concern is the higher cost compared to other options priced around 5 euros per month.
