Recently upgraded from a 3900x to a 7700X and thinking about whether choosing the 7800X3d would have been better. I got the 7700X for $219, feeling like it was a good deal. My GPU is a Sapphire Pulse 6700XT, and I'm still unsure if my CPU choice matters much.

faster CPU is better, but 7700X isn't slow either, not even for like a hardcore gamer, the fps gets so high it doesn't really matter, if you look at this comparison you can see 7800x3D winning, but 7700x already scales 200+ FPS, there's not much more you need, especially on a 144Hz monitor, not to mention some games matter less on CPU and more on GPU, and these tests are with a RTX 4090:

It's a significant improvement, particularly the pricing. The PBO/CO 7700x is a leading gaming processor. Great decision switching to AM5!

@Dedayog please let me know if you have any suggestions for guides that can help me understand how to use my CPU effectively. I don’t want to just guess at the BIOS settings on my Taichi board.
