I've been considering a router upgrade lately. Frequent ping spikes happen during gaming, which makes me think it might be linked to the number of devices in our home. We have five people and likely over 20 gadgets connected to my current ISP router, a Shenzhen Skyworth RN685 AX3000 model. I'm unsure if switching to a newer model is worth nearly double the price. The prices here are RM1,099 (about USD 251) and RM1,999 (around USD 457). Any advice? Also, do I need to replace the Ethernet cable between my modem and router? It's currently Cat 6.

I won't resolve the latency problem by upgrading your router alone. I'll look into the source of the slow speed first. Do you have any current WiFi 7 devices that could benefit from the latest improvements?
