Consider your needs and budget when picking a motherboard.
I'm setting up a new PC soon and plan to use a Ryzen 5 5600X with an RTX 3070 (MSI Gaming X). I'm searching for a motherboard that supports the latest 5000 series and includes Wi-Fi 6. I need to understand the difference between B550 and X570 models and decide which fits my build best. Any feedback or recommendations would be super helpful. I've attached some links I've been checking and a summary of my research.
The X570 is a complete ATX system while the B550 is designed for mATX. The X570 offers greater PCI-E slots, though they won't be useful for just one graphics card. I recommend the TUF B550 instead.
x570 and b550 both work with the new Ryzen 5000 BIOS update. From what I understand, if you're using a Ryzen 5600X and an RTX 3070, you might be aiming for a lower budget but still want a powerful setup for gaming. I’d suggest choosing the b550 over the x570 in this configuration. In x570 all lanes, it supports Gen 4 PCIe and M.2, while the b550 only has the top lane with Gen 4 support. Regarding ATX, my guess is that the b550 TUF and ASUS B550-A GSIMing options would work well depending on your preferences.
