Hey there! I'm searching for the optimal AM4 CPU and motherboard setup for my sister's PC. She needs something that works well with the GTX 1060 and should handle games like Witcher 3 or Sims 4 at 1080p. The plan is to pair Gigabyte A520M with a Ryzen 3 4100, and I already have the GPU and extra RAM available. The power supply will be a beQuiet 500W unit. I'm only looking for CPUs that come with AMD's stealth cooler included. My goal is to secure the best possible deal under 200€, targeting Austria or Germany. Let me know if this sounds good!

A refurbished motherboard offers great value, with many B450 models available to help you save costs. Make sure the board includes the appropriate BIOS for the newest Ryzen processors—contact the seller if needed. For newer builds, look for boards featuring BIOS flashback capabilities.

PCPartPicker Part List: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/yqtC6r
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor (€146.90 @ Alza)
Motherboard: MSI B450-A PRO MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard (€63.90 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Total: €210.80

Alternative parts in Austria:
PCPartPicker Part List: https://at.pcpartpicker.com/list/YXkgtn
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor (€148.90 @ Alza)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (€52.90 @ Alza)
Total: €201.80

Keep in mind the Ryzen 5 5500 performs similarly to the Ryzen 5 3600.

I’d aim for a B450 board first, then consider a A520. If you opt for the GPU, check out a used CPU too. Apparently, the 4100 got bad reviews from Gamers nexus.

Avoid using am4 for future upgrades. The 5000 is the final AM4 line and the 12900KS performs better than 5950X or 5800X3D (upgrading there isn't likely). You're probably at the limit of what's allowed. LGA 1700 should still work with 13th gen chips. I suggest a 12100F paired with H610 or B660. The stock cooler fits an i3 PCPartPicker Part List CPU: Intel Core i3-12100F 3.3 GHz Quad-Core (€105.90 @ Alza). Motherboard: Asus PRIME H610M-E D4 Micro ATX LGA1700 (€87.90 @ Alza). Combined cost: €193.80. Prices cover shipping, taxes, and discounts when available. Created by PCPartPicker 2022-05-16 16:38 CEST+0200

B450 seems like a solid choice. I prefer nonused but brandnew components, especially after bad experiences with the used market. The Ryzen 5500 is a bit pricier at the store, but it’s worth considering since you’ll be purchasing everything from one seller. What are your thoughts on the Ryzen 5 4500?

I already have the GPU. I’m looking to purchase replacement parts, preferably new. The B450 model seems like a better choice. I’ll attempt to acquire one.

It depends on how much the price varies. The 4500 runs a bit slower since it lacks a lot of L3 cache and uses the older Zen 2 design. However, if your sister is likely to upgrade soon, it's not too much of an issue.

I considered Intel initially, but now AM4 boards are affordable enough. AMD seems like a better choice at the moment. I’ll look into Intel later, since I expect more headroom with a future upgrade.

It seems you're considering the 4500 + Gigabyte B450 AORUS. It looks like you're evaluating its fit within your budget and whether it aligns with your needs. Let me know if you'd like more details!
