I have a Ryzen 5 3400G on an Asrock x470 Master SLI/AC with 16GB of RAM (Corsiar LPX 3200MHz). I’m thinking about upgrading to 32GB because I can’t afford a GPU right now, and I’m starting to edit wedding videos professionally. I’m unsure what the new chipset will be or how it fits with my CPU. I want this upgrade, but I need to confirm compatibility. https://www.newegg.com/corsair-32gb-288-...6820236037 Is 3600MHz too high for my CPU? I’ve heard my CPU only goes up to 29xx, so does that rule it out? Could I still use it at 29xx and then get better speeds later? Maybe using CPUID HWmonitor would help, but I don’t see any RAM info. I’m just trying to figure this out, thanks for your help!

By the way, I enjoy playing games, though most of this is for work. I’m curious—could this mean I’m reaching a point where returns are minimal? Might an AMD WX2100 be a more sensible choice?

The difference between 16GB and 32GB depends largely on file size. If your applications are GPU-accelerated, investing in a dedicated GPU would be more beneficial. However, some software runs only on the CPU, so that won’t help much. The WX2100 offers performance comparable to the RX Vega 11 built into your CPU, which means it won’t provide a noticeable boost unless you upgrade further.
