You're looking to upgrade your current MSI B450 A-PRO MAX. It only has one PCI-E gen 3 M.2 slot, lacks Wi-Fi, and you're considering moving to a more future-proof platform with a Ryzen 7 3800X. You're interested in options between $200 and $250.

B550 Steel legend B550 Tomahawk B550 Tuf gaming 5700X offers strong future readiness, matching performance close to the 5800X. Verify specifications if you need a Gen 4 M.2 slot, which is typically included with B550. For budget builds, go with the cheapest MSI boards and skip them.

Based on my observations, the X570 is typically available for just a small price difference compared to the B550. I’ve found the Pro 4 model listed there, which doesn’t require Wi-Fi. It’s performed very well. For the 5000 series, make sure the chosen board supports it—either built-in or through an update.

I fully agree with the others—it's the top pick in this list. The X570S Tomahawk offers superior I/O compared to the B550, supports Wi-Fi 6 (possibly E), and provides ample USB ports for its price. I also feel more confident about it after reading from an Asus enthusiast. Cheers!
