I’m looking for a 4 DDR4 motherboard under $95 that fits the Ryzen 7 5800X. The Gigabyte A520M DS3H is an option, but I want to confirm if it’s suitable and worth considering.
The A520 chipset will restrict you to PCIe 3.0. Its impact will vary based on the components you plan to use. (Tip: PCIe speed mainly affects NVMe drives and your graphics card. Which card are you using?) I’m still trying to understand CPU VRM ratings. The B550 model of the DS3H should provide sufficient power for a 5800x, though not excessively. The B450 version, however, may limit the CPU’s performance. (This information came from the MotherBoard VRM list on this forum.)
B550M PG Riptide is a bit over budget at $100, yet offers great value for the model you own. For alternatives, consider used Midrange Ranger B3/450 or X3/470 like the Pro4/Steel Legend, Aorus Elite/Gaming, or A-Pro/Gaming plus. Those typically range from $50 to $70 on the used side and provide much better performance than a cheap model like the A520. The parts list seems questionable, as PSU and RAM are often overpriced; spending more on a decent cooling unit and 5700X rather than a 5800X makes sense since they’re similar but slower. What price range, country, and current market conditions matter most? Prices can vary based on discounts or changes in availability.
Cheaper options are mainly about price versus performance, especially compared to mobos. Look for models with better value, like the 5800x series down to 5700x. You can often assemble it yourself easily—just plug the parts in. The main challenge might be fitting everything into a case, but a cardboard test bench can finish the job in about five minutes.
They offer a free PC build at the store. For your next purchase, consider upgrading your RAM, PSU, and cooler based on your needs.
this model isn't available for sale. you can find more details on the site https://tms.co.il and view the PC build here: https://tms.co.il/builds/353332#
The Gigabyte B550M AORUS ELITE is similar to the B550M PG Riptid, but you can't find it for sale in Israel.
