So I am planning to build a PC in the beginning of next year, and planning on either using a 5600x or a 5700x (if they will even launch one). As of now, there has been no news for 600 series boards. Should I wait or just straight buy a 500 series board?

Check your readiness before purchasing, as availability will be clear. It seems they’re unlikely to release a 600 series chipset for this generation.

They aren't announcing a new chipset since they'll switch sockets after this generation, though the details aren't finalized.

The 600 series will only support AM5 (or whatever naming they choose) and higher, beginning with the Zen 4 generation (around late 2021 or early 2022). It’s expected to use DDR5 memory, meaning you’ll need updated RAM. Most existing platforms won’t allow future upgrades except for the 500 series and certain Zen 2/3 CPU setups with PCIe 4.0, which will keep GPU support long-term.
