Hey there, I'm planning to upgrade my PC with a Ryzen 5 5600X and a 3060 Ti or 3070 whenever possible. I've got a 5600X that would work well with the MSI B550 Carbon WiFi, but that means keeping my old GPU at 1060 6GB. I'm worried the CPU might slow down the GPU. Should I hold off and buy a better GPU first, or go ahead with my current setup for gaming and editing? My monitor is 1440p at 144Hz, and I'm thinking about upgrading the CPU or RAM next. I only play a few games and mostly use the PC for video and photo editing, which feels a bit sluggish. Any advice or suggestions would be great!
Take the 5600x now and purchase the GPU later. You won’t see a 5600x for another three months.
5600x is the ideal option, though details about the GPU are still emerging. For 1440p/144hz, a minimum of 3070 is recommended, but prioritize the CPU if possible.
