Hi! The decision depends on what you enjoy most. You mentioned liking military simulation games and playing Squad, which was great when it was free. Now that Arma 3 is on sale, you're weighing the pros and cons. Since you're a teen spending wisely, consider if you'll find enjoyment in solo play or multiplayer modes like 50v50. Arma offers more vehicles and variety compared to Squad, but some players find it less engaging without friends or groups. Your setup (Intel i7, 2600, 16GB RAM) should handle it smoothly. Think about your goals—do you want competitive PvP or just casual play?

It's a highly demanding game with a steep learning curve. I've watched players go through it and they treat it with seriousness. They'll incorporate real military terminology over the radio, map analysis, and detailed planning. If you're aiming for that level of realism and confident in your mouse and keyboard skills, you're likely to enjoy it. My suggestion is to purchase it on Steam and take advantage of the 2-hour refund policy to test it out. This should give you a solid sense of whether it fits your expectations before committing.

Arma functions best as a creative environment where players design games using its advanced editor. It offers powerful tools for placing objects, vehicles, and triggers, paired with a strong scripting system that lets mission creators achieve nearly any concept. Most online servers host community-made missions, emphasizing mods and customization. While integration with Steam Workshop makes adding mods straightforward, the platform still feels less polished than older versions like OFP or Arma 1/2. Since most content comes from the community, there isn’t strict standardization—missions might require different setups depending on the creator. This can be frustrating for newcomers who need clear guidance. If you prefer structured competitive play, Squad offers a more defined experience with clear objectives and rules. Arma leans toward flexible, sandbox-style gameplay, resembling building with Lego pieces within a military theme. Ultimately, it’s less about rigid structure and more about personal creativity.

Even if you don’t like the intense realism, it’s still an entertaining experience once you grasp the rules and tricks. It requires time to adapt and get familiar with the game, but once you’re comfortable, it becomes quite enjoyable. Back then, we played for 6-7 hours each evening with the boys, but now I’m the only parent left and things aren’t as exciting unless you encounter SovietWomble and the ZF clan. Then it turns into a lighthearted show.

Arma 3 is the title for gamers who have the time and willingness to explore it. I've been observing a player (Jester814) on YouTube for a while, and he's performing exceptionally well.
